Hey! I’m Jade Weever Shelby, the maker behind Weever Threads. I was raised in Michigan but moved to South Carolina shortly after college. Now, I’m a mom to three little girls — the motivation to learn dressmaking! I like making one-of-a-kind dresses for ages 6m-5Y that are bold, bright
DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS.
My process begins with fabric shopping, which is a hobby in itself. I usually know as soon as I see something what I want it to look like. Then, I wash everything (unscented), set up my projector to cut the pieces, and get to work bringing my vision to life!
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I’m inspired by vibrant, fun, floral fabrics.
FUN FACT ABOUT YOU.
Beets are my very favorite vegetable. I mean that COLOR alone… yum.
We’re relatively new to Augusta, but we have been enjoying the park, trails, and nature in general.
WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE?
Being a
WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS?
The best advice I’ve received is to do something related to your craft every day. So, for me, it can be as simple as ironing a seam, trimming threads, or picking up my workspace floor. There are days when it’s hard mustering up the energy or creativity to work, but spending time around your art makes it easier to jump back in when you’re ready.
