Meet the Maker:
WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO? Originally from the Pacific Northwest, the Augusta area has been home for more than a decade. I am an educator, with a passion for the garden, food, herbs, the natural world and civics. I am an adventurer, a mother of teens, and a work in progress. In a nutshell: Garden, Teacher, Tea, Veggies, Camp, Backpack, Road Trip, Mother, Maker, & a Darn Good Cook. DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS. I grew up in the garden, surrounded by wise women and their herbs, and I was fortunate enough to glean all the good bits. I make teas for many reasons; some simply taste amazing and remind me of specific moments in life and others are meant to serve a specific mind/body need (while still tasting like a work of art). I have nearly 100 herbs in stock. What can I make for you? WHAT INSPIRES YOU? I am inspired by the people I meet - plain and simple. FUN FACT ABOUT YOU. My 40's are amazing: I am working on my masters, I am now a single mom, and newly out. FAVORITE THING ABOUT DOWNTOWN AUGUSTA. Everything. Can I say everything? I love the food, the art, the people, the diversity, and the fact that I can't walk through downtown without running into someone I know. WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE? I have never seen myself as a creative person, but I have this basic human need to make something; something tangible and concrete that people can smell, and touch, and taste, and enjoy. Also, it's a moment to educate and engage. It all circles back to building community. WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS? Everything is a learning opportunity, cherish every interaction, and support other makers.
