My name is Benedicta. I’m from Nigeria but currently live in Gainesville, Georgia. I’m a jeweler 

DECRIBE YOUR PROCESS.
This is a lot as there are different processes for different styles of jewelry. I do a lot of fabrication with sheet metal and also with scrap silver that I melt down to create different shapes for my jewelry. Most of my pieces are set with natural gemstones. All of this is done by my own hands in my home studio. 

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Everything and anything. Lines, nature, geometry, a face, a memory…

FUN FACT ABOUT YOU.
I sang soprano in the Anglican church choir for 15 years and I still sing everyday. 

FAVORITE THING ABOUT DOWNTOWN AUGUSTA.
Will find out soon. Haven’t been to Augusta yet but the place called to me because my older sister is named Augusta

WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE?
It’s the only way I can breathe. I can’t keep still. My hands are constantly moving and it frustrated my parents. Creating brought rhythm to my hands and gave them purpose

WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS?
Don’t stop doing. Even if it feels like no one likes your creations, don’t stop. Your pieces will speak to someone who will cherish them.
