WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO?
I’m Annie, I am living in Augusta with my husband and my cat, and I am a public health entomologist (bug scientist) who also creates, shares, and sells my artistic creations that feature mostly insects and other overlooked animals

DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS.
I love working with a lot of different media – I freehand emborider, sew, I color original pen drawings with watercolor, and I create jewelry and accessories out of clay, metal, and resin. I get a lot of my inspiration from nature – insect species, florals, colors in nature, and small or endangered organisms! I’m also constantly trying to think of ways to reuse or upcycle things I already have or find partially used.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I love using art to show people how I see some of nature’s smallest or less-loved members. I also am inspired by my grandmothers who sewed, sang and painted while I grew up and my mother who is an amazing photographer and artistic mind

WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE?
I love working with my hands, and I find that my mind is most quiet and I am happiest when I am creating, designing or thinking up new designs, especially when I am doing it with a fellow artist or a friend! I have also seen people smile or get excited when they see something I’ve made that resonates with them and I love finding connection through art. 

WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS?
If you love what you create, that is enough. If you share it with the world, that is brave, and it doesn’t matter what response you get – your art is important!
