Rebecca Beaird, of SIFT+STACK, creates handmade functional porcelain wares and oil paintings on panels. All work is inspired by horticulture, architectural history, and vintage interior patterns. Her goal is for each piece to provide a little pop in a curated and eclectic home.
Meet the Maker:
WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO?
Hi my name is Rebecca Beaird. I was born in Augusta and after a brief journey to Clemson, Chicago and Italy to study art, I am back in my home town. I am an art teacher by day and ceramic artist and painter by night.
DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS.
I am very interested in patterns and functional forms from home decor, especially mid century design. I create ceramic vessels with an attention to function and then add colorful patterns using glazed and mason stains. I also use oil paints to crest whimsical painting full of pattern, plants and architecture.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Home decor, David Hockney, 1950s -1970s wall paper patterns, Bedford’s nursery
FUN FACT ABOUT YOU.
I have a growing collection of handmade mugs. Right now I have about 30, each made by a different artist.
