WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO?
I’m a relatively new woodworker and full-time Occupational Therapist. Originally from West Virginia, I’ve lived in Augusta for 32 years.

DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS.
I enjoy using both hand tools and modern power tools. I often see the shape of the finished product in the natural wood I’m working with. Many of my pieces are made for use in home music studios and are made from poplar wood. I suntan the poplar to help darken and enhance the natural grain of the wood.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I am inspired by the shapes and colors found in nature. I love wood with lots of knots, grain, pattern and even things that some might consider defects.

FUN FACT ABOUT YOU.
I’m a drummer and love kayaking.

The interesting old buildings that are being renovated and repurposed.

WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE?
I believe God has given everyone a creative desire and the ability to appreciate beauty. It’s wonderful to make something beautiful or functional for people to use and enjoy.

WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS?
Don’t be afraid to make what you like. You don’t need to do what others are doing (unless that’s what you like to make).
