Meet the Artist:
WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO?
I am a crafter and artist who grew up primarily moving around the United States and I’ve settled into the CSRA. I love to learn, so I follow crafts, puzzles and art mediums that help me explore new curiosities. I’ve worked in watercolor, ink, I create figures from clay with natural findings, I like enjoy fantastical prose and quirky fiction stories that mix with artistic and visual mediums. I am recently exploring the crossover and value of technology and its use in art mediums and support.
DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS.
I create art to understand and be fully connected to my world. All my art is a tether to connection and curiosity. I find something I don’t know about and I fail at it until I get better. My process is concerted acceptance of that.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Historic patterns, connections between people and symbology.
FUN FACT ABOUT YOU.
I like to pet carpenter bees if I see them because they are patient, have an unshakable work ethic and a very fuzzy bee butt.
FAVORITE THING ABOUT DOWNTOWN AUGUSTA.
I like the positive inertia many creators, business’ and supporters of our city have been fostering as a larger group. The adaptation, passion and growth has been really beautiful and concerted. I’m grateful to be growing roots in our community with so many different and hard working, varied people. I have so much to learn and a wonderful place to begin.
WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE?
Things with light and shadow, neon watercolor with symbolic themes, fan art, illustrated stories and figures that are playful. I do like the mix of positive and fun into serious.
WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS +
Say hello! Support the environment that you want to grow in. Never knowing is half the battle. Don’t pet bees unless you are totally sure they are the patient kind.
